The 2027 Ram ProMaster City is an all-new midsize commercial van that fits under 80 inches, so it clears most garages. Ram is pitching it at small businesses, couriers and trades that do not need a full-size ProMaster.

This is a new, smaller commercial van for 2027, and it fits where a full-size ProMaster does not: under 80 inches tall, so it clears most garages, including older parking decks in Detroit, Cincinnati and Cleveland. It starts at $37,400 for the Tradesman Cargo, with the SLT Cargo at $38,900 and passenger wagons from $40,100. A 1.6-liter turbo four makes 166 hp and 221 lb-ft, and front-wheel drive is the only layout. Ram's early targets are a 2,200-lb payload and about 2,000 lbs of towing with the optional Class 3 hitch, and cargo space tops 167 cubic feet. The tank holds 18.5 gallons. Targets are preliminary, so confirm final numbers before ordering.

The load floor is 111 inches long and more than 48 inches wide between the wheel arches, enough for a pair of standard U.S. pallets placed front to back. Total cargo volume tops 167 cubic feet.

A sliding door sits on the passenger side, and the rear has either swing doors that open to 180 degrees or a new optional liftgate. Eleven combinations of windows, panels and rear doors are offered.

A 1.6-liter turbo four makes 166 horsepower and 221 lb-ft, driving the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic. Ram's early targets are 2,200 pounds of payload and about 2,000 pounds of towing.

Standard equipment includes a 10-inch digital gauge cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats and a digital rearview mirror. The SLT adds front parking sensors and wireless charging.

It should be, for small parcels, service calls and last-mile deliveries. The compact size, 167 cubic feet of space and 2,200-lb target payload suit city work, and the under-80-inch height fits many garages. Larger trades with ladders and heavy tools will want the full-size ProMaster, which holds up to 524 cubic feet.
It will cope on plowed roads with winter tires and a load in the back. The only layout is front-wheel drive, so it is not the van for steep unplowed driveways in the snow belt. Small businesses in places like Grand Rapids or the east side of Cleveland should budget for winter tires and keep some weight over the rear axle.
The Tradesman Cargo starts at $37,400 plus $2,595 destination, or $39,995 delivered. The SLT Cargo is $38,900, the Tradesman Passenger Wagon is $40,100 and the SLT Passenger Wagon is $41,600, all before destination.
Ram says production starts in 2026 and vehicles reach dealers in the first quarter of 2027. Orders opened in the second half of 2026.
